At first glance, CouchDB is very strange database. It's document oriented, everything in JSON and even more - they say "Let’s curl on the couch and relax". Curl is a programme to access the database from the command line. Relax seems to be crucial word for this database. After installing it you can see: "Apache CouchDB has started. Time to relax". In fact CouchDB is an acronym for cluster of unreliable commodity hardware. This database is a new approach and nurse an ambition to be commonly used. It's an alternative to RDBMS.
